Cloud access security broker
Today the average employee actively uses 36 cloud services.
The growth in the adoption of cloud services and applications by enterprises globally has been occurring for over a decade. This scalable way of bringing solutions to workers, without hardware setup or maintenance, is now how the vast majority of businesses leverage collaboration, file-sharing and even authentication tools for their distributed workforce.
With this complete shift from the traditional model of deploying on-premises, a market was created for security solutions that govern the use of cloud apps while protecting sensitive corporate data. The CASB category has developed to meet this need.

Cloud-first security
CASB solutions are identified by Gartner as a core component of a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) framework, and for good reason. In the new SASE-defined world of moving away from the ‘boxed’ stack of solutions in the enterprise data centre and to the new world of the cloud, CASBs that provide visibility, security, threat intelligence and compliance are essential. The growth in distributed working will accelerate the adoption of CASBs.

Your SASE strategy
We understand that your journey to SASE is unique. CASB solutions work for some and not for others. If you’re not implementing a cloud access security broker, it by no means shows that your company isn’t covering your bases with your existing setup. NetMotion is designed to help you transition to a more seamless, secure, cloud-centric environment and abide by the SASE framework with or without a CASB.

The four pillars of CASB
Visibility: A key component of CASB is visibility. SASE solutions offer a consolidated view of an organization’s cloud service landscape. Details are shown on individual users accessing specific data within cloud services from any device or location.
Data security: Alongside visibility, security of company data is of paramount importance. CASB solutions offer security policies to prevent unwanted activity based on user activity and monitoring of access to sensitive data. Actions that can be triggered by most CASB solutions include auditing, alerting, blocking or quarantining users and/or devices.
Threat protection: CASB solutions must also prevent unwanted devices, users and app versions from accessing cloud services. This is done using adaptive access controls. CASBs can change cloud application functionality based on signals observed during and after login. They do this using threat intelligence, and malware detection and remediation.
Compliance: Lastly, CASB solutions help organizations demonstrate their ‘governance’ and control over cloud services. They provide key information in determining cloud risk appetite and cloud risk tolerance. CASBs also assist in efforts to conform to data regulatory requirements.
NetMotion has SASE solutions
SASE encompasses a number of different technologies and solutions, ranging from SD-WAN to VPN. The NetMotion platform demonstrates leadership and capabilities in all solutions called out by Gartner as being ‘core components’ of SASE.

NetMotion + CASB
NetMotion is not a traditional CASB solution, but it does offer many of the same security benefits for organizations looking to transition to SASE. Operational alongside a CASB or deployed as an alternative, the NetMotion platform sits between distributed users and SaaS applications.
